EXTREME LARGENESS CELEBRATE 13TH BIRTHDAY WITH CHARITY 'HAIR ROCK SATURDAY'
Extreme Largeness an alternative jewellery, fashion and accessories store based in Afflecks in Manchester, is celebrating its 13th Birthday with a ‘Hair Rock Saturday’ on 10th December and is raising funds for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
The charity ‘rockathon’ begins at 12pm in its ground floor shop at Afflecks with a 5-minute rock out - giving prizes for the best air guitar performance – continuing hourly throughout the day. Extreme Largeness are also holding a raffle for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and have had some fabulous prizes donated by local companies, including a full drum kit from Yamaha, an electric guitar from PMT Music Store, Afflecks vouchers and tickets for Nyte Heet (a well-known Manchester glam rock club night). The raffle prize draw will take place on 31st December in the store.
The Sophie Lancaster Foundation focuses on creating respect for and understanding of subcultures in all communities. It also works in conjunction with politicians and police forces to ensure individuals who are part of subcultures are protected by the law. It was founded after Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend were brutally attacked in a park in Bacup, Lancashire in 2007, simply because they were Goths. Because of the severity of her head injuries, Sophie never regained consciousness and died 13 days later in hospital.
Carl Myatt, Managing Director of Extreme Largeness, commented: “We are very proud to be supporting the Sophie Lancaster Foundation as part of our 13th Birthday celebrations. Extreme Largeness is an alternative jewellery, fashion and accessories store and many of our customers have been affected by prejudice against subcultures, which is why we thought it appropriate to support the Charity. We are hoping that everyone will come down on 10th December and have a fantastic time and, at the same time, raise funds for the Foundation.”
